Plasterer Quote Template
Most plastering work is priced by the square metre, and a good quote shows the customer exactly what that rate covers. Skimming over sound existing plaster is a different job from hacking off blown areas and re-plastering from scratch, and the two should never appear as the same line. This template gives you space to state the area, the method and the finish for each room or wall, so there is no argument about scope once the dust sheets go down.
Preparation is where plastering quotes most often fall short. State whether you are scrim taping board joints and cracks, sealing bare or porous surfaces with PVA, and fitting corner beads to external angles. If the job includes boarding, say whether you are dot and dabbing onto masonry or fixing to new studwork, and list the boards and adhesive as materials. Bare brick or block usually needs a bonding or undercoat plaster before the finish coat, and that extra coat should be a visible line, not absorbed silently into the rate. Coving and cornice work is normally priced per metre and kept separate from wall areas, and external rendering or pebbledash belongs in its own section altogether.
Two more lines save real disputes. Drying times: a skim coat is usually ready for a mist coat within days, but backing coats and render can take weeks, and customers planning to decorate need that in writing. Waste: old plaster is heavy and goes in a rubble skip, so say whether removal is included. Download the template in Word or PDF below, or build the quote online free.

Should I price plastering per square metre or as a fixed price?
Both are used. Per square metre suits larger or open areas and scales fairly if the customer adds a wall, while a fixed price per room is simpler for small domestic jobs. Whichever you choose, state the measured areas on the quote so the customer can see how the figure was built up.
How should a quote show the difference between skimming and re-plastering?
List them as separate methods. A skim coat over sound existing plaster is a thin finish coat and much cheaper than hacking off to brick, applying a bonding or undercoat plaster and then skimming. If part of a room needs stripping and part does not, itemise each wall so the price makes sense.
How long should a plastering quote be valid for?
Thirty days is standard for domestic work. Plaster, boards and render prices move, and your diary fills up, so a stated validity date means you are not held to a figure that no longer covers materials or fits your schedule.
Should a plastering quote mention drying time before decorating?
Yes. Customers often plan a decorator or their own painting straight after you finish. A skim coat is usually ready for a mist coat within a few days, but backing coats and render can take several weeks to dry fully. Putting the expected drying time on the quote prevents complaints about paint going on too early.
